Feeling Stuck? There’s a Way Forward That’s Not Just More Talk Therapy

You’ve been in therapy for what feels like forever, but instead of moving forward, you’re spinning in circles. You’ve talked through your past, processed your emotions, tried deep breathing—and yet, here you are, still feeling stuck. Talking isn’t working. Breathing exercises aren’t helping. You’re tired of rehashing the same stories without real, lasting change.

Yet, in moments of movement—whether it’s yoga, breathwork, or dance—you’ve felt something shift. You’ve had glimpses of release, a deeper connection to yourself. But you also know there are things from your past that are still holding you back. Maybe it’s old wounds affecting your romantic relationships, friendships, or even how you show up in your work or business. You have big dreams, but something inside keeps blocking you from fully stepping into them.

You don’t need more talk therapy—you need something that actually moves you forward. You need something deeper, something that gets to the root, and something that helps you trust your own mind and body to heal.

Brainspotting: A Different Kind of Healing

I’m Miranda Palmer, a Brainspotting Practitioner with a Master’s of Science in Psychology and a concentration in counseling. After years as a trauma therapist providing EMDR, I saw firsthand how powerful brain-body approaches can be. But when I sought therapy for myself, I kept running into the same roadblocks: more talking, more analyzing, but not enough real movement toward healing.

Through my own journey, I discovered that true transformation came from something deeper than traditional therapy. I found healing through movement, yoga, breathwork, psychedelics, and community care—modalities that honored the body’s wisdom and trusted the brain’s natural ability to heal. That’s what led me to Brainspotting.

Brainspotting isn’t therapy and I won’t be your therapist. It’s a powerful tool that helps you bypass the overthinking brain and tap into your body’s innate healing process. It allows you to move through trauma, blocks, and old patterns in a way that feels natural and embodied—not forced or analytical.

With Brainspotting, you’re not just rehashing the past. You’re learning how to:

  • Access deep healing without endless talking

  • Process trauma and emotional blocks in a way that actually sticks

  • Trust your brain and body to guide you toward release and relief

  • Use Brainspotting techniques on your own for continued healing and self-growth

Brainspotting can be done one-on-one or in groups, and it’s designed to help you create real, lasting change—not keep you stuck in cycles of processing without progress.

  • Therapy also known as psychotherapy is at its base level focused on treating mental health conditions. In fact, in most, if not all cases, in order for therapy to be covered by your insurance, you are required to be diagnosed with a mental health condition and to have significant impairment in your life BECAUSE of this major mental health diagnosis.

    Coaching is not focused

  • I believe in the deep power for people to experience joy, bliss, and connection in their day to day life.

Therapy should be helping people experience more of this in their day to day lives. But, for many people therapy is another wounding.

At its core, I think the idea of therapy is beautiful, that is why I became a licensed therapist all those years ago.

In the reality, the system as it currently stands is broken. The focus should always be on helping hte person in front of. you. It should be a cocreated experience that actually works- not just on paper but in people’s real lives.

  • The biggest problem is that a large majority of people on the planet don’t actually qualify for a mental health diagnosis- and our broken system is currrently centered around diagnosing individuals.

Furthermore, the diagnostic criteria are problematic, insufficient, and just plain inaccurate for entire populations, cultures, and more.

While a mental health diagnosis in theory is focused on people getting better access to care, many people find that this diagnosis can lead to judgment, stigma, and reduced access to care.

Mental health diagnosis can also impact your insurance premiums, eligibility for health insurance, short-term and long-term care insurance, and much more.

In short, the system in broken.

You don’t need a made up diagnosis as much as you need healing, support, and direction.

While understanding neurodivergence is powerful- a diagnosis, or a lack thereof isn’t what anyone is looking for…

You are looking to figure out how to navigate life in a way that works for you, that allows for easeful connections, community, life, health, and employment in a way that works for your unique history, brain, and goals.

While being diagnosed with c-PTSD can be informative, what would be MORE helpful would be access to care that works as quickly as possible so you can move through trauma in a way that is doesn’t become “stuck” in your body and heart.

Coaching, reiki, brainspotting, and spiritual mentoring don’t wait for, or require a mental health diagnosis to provide you the care and direction you need in this moment.

That said, as a former therapist with a Master’s Degree in Psychology- when/if discussions of diagnosis are helpful or you are desiring a referring for diagnostic evaluation I am skilled in directing you to really amazing humans who can help with that.

  • No, I don’t work with insurance. I believe in offering a process that prioritizes your healing—not a system that often delays and limits care.

Insurance doesn’t pay for things that are not of medical necessity connected a diagnosis. At Not Therapy we know that many of the descriptions we have for how people respond to real harm in the world are made up and put extra shame and stigma on the person instead of putting the impact back on the broken system.
